Blueberry Walnut Oat Cup with Warm Pear
The oat cup already carries blueberry and walnut flavor, so warm pear is the only topping it needs. A short covered simmer softens the fruit while the oats hydrate off the heat.

Ingredients
1 blueberry walnut oat cup (2 oz)Purely Elizabeth: Made with organic ingredients- Boiling water to the cup fill line
- 1/2 ripe pear, diced
- 1 tablespoon water
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamonMorton & Bassett: USDA Organic
Amounts above are for cooking. Products are sold in retail packages; pantry extras may be needed.
Method
Dice the pear
Cut half a ripe pear into 1/2-inch pieces. Place it in a small saucepan with 1 tablespoon water and the cinnamon.
Soften the fruit
Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring once. The pear should yield easily to a fork; add a teaspoon of water if the pan dries.
Hydrate the oats
Remove the cup lid and add boiling water to its marked line. Stir thoroughly, cover loosely and stand for 5 minutes, or the longer time on the label.
Check the texture
Stir the oats again until creamy, with no dry pockets at the bottom. If still firm, cover for another minute as directed on the package.
Finish the cup
Spoon the warm pear onto the oats and let steam escape for 1 minute before eating. Use care because the cup and fruit may be hot.
Kitchen tips
Use a ripe pear so the topping can soften while the cup stands.
Stir along the bottom of the cup to reach any dry oats before adding the topping.
Substitutions
A finely diced apple works instead of pear; simmer until tender rather than relying on the same exact time.
For a different grain base, use a label-checked plain instant oat cup, noting that it will not have the original blueberry and walnut flavor.
If avoiding gluten, choose a comparable cereal or oat base explicitly labeled gluten-free and check the other ingredients; the original version is not certified here.
Storage
Serve fresh; refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours and use within 1 day.
Serving suggestions
Eat from the cup for convenience, or transfer to a small bowl so the warm fruit spreads over the oats.
Make ahead
Cook the pear up to 1 day ahead and refrigerate. Reheat until steaming, then prepare the oat cup fresh; the cup includes bovine collagen, so changing fruit does not make it vegetarian.

Can I microwave the oat cup?
Use the microwave directions printed on that specific cup. Do not microwave packaging that is not labeled microwave-safe.
Can I make this without walnuts?
The original cup contains walnuts. Use a different, appropriately labeled oat base rather than simply omitting a topping.
